House Brune of the Dyre Den is a noble house from the Dyre Den, which is located in Crackclaw Point in the crownlands. Their arms are a bear paw, black on white, within a double tressure red. Their words are "We stand tall."
The Brunes are cousins to the Brunes of Brownhollow. Some say the Brunes of Crackclaw to be half-wild. Others say they earned nobility by witchcraft while their original cousins remain landed knights.

History
Origins
The Brothers Brune were legendary champions who brought peace to Crackclaw Point.
Targaryen Dynasty
Richard Brune was squire to Lord Alyn Stokeworth, the Hand of the King to King Aegon I and Aelyx I Targaryen. When Lord Alyn was slain by the rebel Harren the Red, Richard is said to have cut down the outlaw and was rewarded with a knighthood though tales of Harren the Reds death change greatly from telling to telling, but it is worth noting that Richard has never been one to tell the tale himself, giving credit to Baelon and Lord Alyn as he fell dying.

Seat and Holdings
Dyre Den is a fortress located on Crackclaw Point overlooking a jagged stretch of coastline in the crownlands, known for its treacherous waters and wild landscape. The castle's location offers strategic advantages, as it overlooks the dangerous sea and the surrounding wildlands, making it almost impossible to approach unnoticed. There is a village that has grown beside the castle and is built off the outer walls, a danger if the castle is ever sieged, though they have managed to never have needed the castle for protection. The people of Dyre Den do some farming, some fishing, and hire out to work for nearby lords.
Dyre Den is not the grandest or most luxurious of castles, but it is practical and well-suited to the damp environment it occupies. The castle is made of local stone, with towers that provide sweeping views of the surrounding waters and land, where pirates and raiders often pose a threat.
