House Wydman is a noble house from the Vale of Arryn. It blazons its arms with 5 splintered lances, 3-2, striped blue and white with blue pennons, on yellow, beneath a white chief bearing a red castle, a green viper, a black broken wheel, a purple unicorn and a golden lion. Its words are "Right Conquers Might."

As a house only a couple hundred years old that came from common origins the people of house Wydman vary considerably depending on the traits offered by their Motherhouse and have been known even among the same parents to have considerably different traits between siblings such as red hair for one and dark brown hair for another.

Customs

House Wydman isn't known for any particular common custom, they differ from others in the Vale in that they are not known to be as rigid where Faith and tradition are concerned. Wydman's are known to be fairly opportunistic, and are said to have the unofficial words. “Always another lance to break, and another purse to win.”

History

Origins

A relatively young house, Wydman grew to prominence after a tournament held by Halleck Hoare to celebrate his second marriage, where the original Wydman; a mystery knight of low birth, bested five knights in the joust to earn a purse large enough to do whatever he wanted. During the final night of revelry, King Osgood Arryn the third, impressed by the Wydmans strength and honor, offered the Wydman a keep in the Vale, a place to raise a family and spend his well earned coin.

Targaryen Dynasty

House Wydman were involved in the fighting during the Sunderland revolt during the conquest and fought in the Riverlands against Harren the Red and at the Blackwater Fork.

Recent Events

Seat and Holdings

The Lance, the seat of house Wydman is a great hall with a tall wooden spire atop it. Theirs is a relatively poor seat and is still even so long after the founding of their house considered under construction as they add stone every few years leaving the hall that acts as the base of the 'lance' fortified with stone, and the lance itself a mast of timber, a glorified watchtower.
