Customs
House Ball is steeped in the military tradition brought to the Reach by the Andal invasion and though they were once nobles they were lowered to a knightly house by the Gardeners. They hope to someday return to full nobility but also enjoy the simplicity of knightly service.

Origins
House Ball is an ancient house of First Men origin that can trace its lineage back to the Age of Heroes. According to legend, they descend from one of the three husbands of Florys the Fox, a daughter of Garth Greenhand.
Targaryen Dynasty
House Ball as a part of King Mern's vanguard and lost a number of sons and brothers upon the Field of Fire. Ser Quentyn Ball is said to have been responsible for dragging the nephew to King Mern to safety beyond the flames before fighting on while the Lannisters retreated, falling to his death from a Targaryen cavalry charge.
First Dornish War
House Ball offered a few hundred men to the Dornish expedition that was lost to the sands. Lord Harlan Ball who had led the men had returned home to see the birth of his son and survived the loss of the men, swearing off battle with the Dornish in his lifetime for their 'sinister ways.'

Seat and Holdings
The Round is a rather new castle all things considered, a few hundred years old the Round was built to replace the short stout tower that had once sat as the seat of house Ball, the outer wall that surrounded the tower remains, the round itself however was built of fine white stone with a domed top crested by a solar of Volantene glass.
After the burning of the round by Vhagar the solar stands in ruins and the walls of the once bright white castle are now charred and blackened. The ancient outer wall survived the heat though took some charring on the inside as well.
The interior of the Round has been repaired and returned to livable conditions so the domed roof do not collapse but the interior is a farcry from the fine construction it once held.
